William “Bill” Freeman
Age 81
Of St. Paul
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 4, 2023, after battling rectal cancer for three years. Bill was born on September 4, 1941, in Saint Paul.
His first job after graduating from St. Thomas College was a teacher and a coach at St. Rose, where he met his wife, a fellow teacher, Kathy Kroiss. They were married on June 24, 1967. They had one son, Michael. After teaching for eight years, he left for the business world and was a sales rep for Worum Fiberglass for thirty-seven years. A true Irishman, Bill was always smiling. His cup was more than half full. He has many lasting friendships from St. Lukes, St. Thomas Academy, St. Thomas College, Cretin, and Central. His neighbors referred to him as “the mayor of Scheffer Avenue”. Bill loved all sports, whether he participated in or watched them. He was a high school football referee for twelve years and is still waiting for his hole in one! Bill was very proud to watch both of his grandchildren play sports at Cretin.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, George and Rowena and sister Rowena “Ronnie”. Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Kathy; son, Michael (Laura); and wonderful grandchildren, Nicholas and Megan; brother, George (Lucy); brother-in-law, Jim Kroiss (Sue); sister-in-law, Sandy Lovick (David); and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 10am , Wednesday June 7th at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2055 Bohland Ave., St Paul, with visitation one hour prior to mass. Please go to https://lumenchristicc.online.church/ to live-streaming the service. interment at Calvary Cemetery.
