Thom, William H (COL, USAR Ret) (“Bill”, “Whitey”). October 26, 1940 - March 21, 2025. Of Woodbury, MN, formerly of Prescott, WI and Mendota Heights, MN. Passed away peacefully after extended time living with the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. Bill had a quiet commitment to service - whether family, a church council, city commission, Cub Scouts, US Army Reserve, or coaching a youth team, Bill was engaged in activities that served others. Bill worked at 3M for over 35 years while simultaneously serving our country in the Army Reserve before retiring from both professional pursuits. He then continued in various customer service roles to stay engaged and visit with people. The true joys of his life were spending time with his wife, Sharon, and his granddaughters, whom he had the opportunity to see grow into amazing young women. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Sharon, sisters Jean and Evelyn, brothers Leo and Louis. Bill is survived by son William (Kelly), granddaughters Erin and Abbie, brother Robert, sister Mary, several Brothers- and Sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Natalie B, Devrie P, and the team at St. Croix Hospice for their love, care, partnership, and compassion during Bill’s journey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM (visitation 10:00 - 11:00) at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Mendota, MN on Wednesday, April 30th followed by lunch and internment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials preferred to benefit research at the Parkinson’s Association. Arrangements are being coordinated by O’Halloran and Murphy.
Mass will be livestreamed and recorded on the Church of St. Peter - Mendota MN youtube page, linked below
