William Francis Strub, Jr

On April 14th, William Strub passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. One of his last wishes was to make sure we sent the message below to his friends and loved ones:

A special goodbye to all my friends and classmates and to my wonderful and happy former students at Special Olympics.  A special thanks to my business partners who made my career a joy.  A fond farewell to my golfing pals who have had an indelible impact on my life (sometimes memorable and other times not). And, finally, to all the friends of Bill W. who have guided me through a meaningful life that I could not have lived without them. I leave in anticipation of reuniting with all my friends and loved ones who have gone before me. The gift of loving parents, a wonderful life partner and four treasured children has filled my life to the brim.  I am truly a very lucky guy.  My farewell and final resting place will be a family matter. I choose to remain at rest at a special place overlooking the beautiful St. Croix River, the gathering place of our entire family. “It has been a great ride.” I’ve said my last goodbyes. Life has been full, fun, fair, and far better than I ever expected.  THE MAN UPSTAIRS has given me all that a man could possibly have asked for. This I know, HE has done things for me that I could never have done for myself.  I have traveled the full circle. I have finished the race and kept the faith.  I leave with no regrets; only fond memories, especially of those I love. So my friends, in leaving, I know that someday we will be together again. Pray for me as I will for thee until we will merrily meet in heaven. …   BILL

William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Strub, and his brother Richard. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; his children Jennifer, Carrie (Dan), Bill (Amy), and Liz (Adam); and grandchildren Joe, Maura, Daniel, Cora, Aurora, Anna, Cate, Sarah, Dylan, Jake and Abby. Memorials may be sent to The Retreat Rehab Center or to St. Thomas Academy.
