Ginny Meihofer was born on June 24, 1936, and passed away on November 17, 2025. She graduated from Central High School and married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Meihofer, on September 4, 1954. Together, they spent two years in Germany while Jerry served in the U.S. military. Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found joy in raising her four children and later cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When her youngest child was in high school, Ginny began working at Woodbury Senior High School as Secretary to the School Counselor and later worked in the jewelry department at Kohl’s.
Her love for animals was evident throughout her life—she often rescued wildlife and passed this passion on to her children and grandchildren. Ginny enjoyed time at the family cabin on Gun Lake, trips to the casino, and traveling to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada, as well as other journeys with her children. She was creative and talented, spending countless hours crafting beautiful knitted pieces, ceramics, baskets, and other handmade items. An avid gardener, Ginny nurtured vibrant flower gardens and indoor plants, generously sharing cut flowers and plants with others. She also loved harvesting garden produce and picking wild berries.
Family was at the heart of Ginny’s life. She treasured every moment spent with loved ones and remained a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald H. Meihofer; parents, Albert and Emily Black; and sister, Mary Angela. Ginny is survived by her is survived by her sisters, Eleanor (Willard) Sonday, Dianne (Edward) Hughes, Angela (Russell) Radabaugh, Theresa (Steven Butwinick) Black; children: Sue (Dave) LeMay, Shirley (Joe) Bourgeault, Jerry, and Matt (Gina); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 24, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at O’Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home, 8700 Valley Creek Rd., Woodbury, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, November 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 6133 15th St. N, Oakdale, MN, with a one-hour visitation prior at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
