Timothy F. McKnight, age 89, of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born October 22, 1935, Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.
Tim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verna, and his son, Timothy. He is survived by his daughters Michelle (Bob) Steffen and Mary McKnight; his son Thomas (Brenda) McKnight; and his cherished grandchildren Haley, Rebecca, Rachel and Scout. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Tim lived a life defined by warmth, joy, and dedication to others. He spent his career serving the community as an Employment Counselor for Ramsey County, where he helped countless people find their path and purpose. He retired nearly 25 years ago but remained deeply engaged in the lives of those around him. Tim was a volunteer driver for the Memorial Blood Center for over 12 years.
A craftsman at heart, Tim found great joy in making wooden toys and creating festive Christmas yard decorations, which lit up not just his and his children’s yards but the hearts of neighbors and passersby alike. He loved spending time with his family—especially when it involved telling stories, sharing laughter, and delivering a perfectly timed dad joke.
A devoted fan of Minnesota Vikings football and an enthusiastic supporter of local community theatre, Tim believed in the importance of cheering on both the home team and the hometown stage.
Tim's life was a testament to kindness, humor, and love. His memory will live on in the joy he brought to others, the stories he told, and the strong family bonds he helped build and nurture.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 7, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 515 Albert St. S, St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior. Lunch will follow, with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
