Thomas Vogt Obituary

Thomas Vogt Obituary (February 24, 1932-September 26, 2025)
Thomas Monroe Vogt died suddenly and peacefully on September 26, 2025. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Alexandra “Sandy” (nee Platt), in 2005, and his late-in-life love Dorothea Tenney. Tom is survived by his four children, Elizabeth M. “Liz” Vogt (Terry R. Lash), Frederick W. “Rick” Vogt (Denise), David L. Vogt (Lynn), and Peter T. Vogt (Cami), thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John Vogt.
Tom was born February 24, 1932, in St. Paul to Frederick and Dorothy Vogt (nee van Antwerp) and lived there until the family moved to White Bear Lake. Tom graduated from the White Bear Lake High School and attended college and law school at the University of Minnesota.
Tom was a nationally recognized pioneer in the field of labor law practicing for almost 50 years with the Felhaber Law Firm after serving in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed downhill skiing and stayed on the slopes into his late 80’s. He learned to fly obtaining his private pilot license to expand his range for “serious skiing.” Tom was an avid outdoorsman and built a log cabin with multiple additions and sauna.
Tom was a loving and generous father giving his children many adventures growing up: many ski trips; outings to various historical sites, such as Colonial Williamsburg; singing “Anchors Aweigh” as a bedtime song; among others. We will always remember him as tough, but fair (“Dad, that’s not fair!” “Tough.”). He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on 23 October at 11:00 at O’Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home, 575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul; the family will be available to greet beginning at 10:00. A light lunch will follow the service with the internment at 1:30 at Acacia Cemetery, 2151 Pilot Knob Rd, Mendota Heights. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Tom’s memory in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
