Thomas was born on September 23rd, 1946 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Jack and Dorothy Hunt.  Tom came from a military family and graduated in 1964 from Duluth Denfeld High School.  After graduating high school, he attended the University of Minnesota and during this time he went to work for the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT).   During his time at MNDOT, Tom worked primarily as a bridge inspector and later moved into the materials receiving lab. He enlisted in the National Guard in January of 1966.   While in the National Guard, Tom was an expert marksman and sharpshooter as a Senior Military Policeman.  He was honorably discharged in January of 1972.  He married the love of his life, Sharon at St. Rose of Lima on March 2nd, 1968 and they went on to share 49 years together.  In October of 2003, after 37 years, Tom retired from the state and continued to teach aggregate certification classes until his wife Sharon was diagnosed with cancer and later passed away. During Sharon’s courageous battle with cancer, Tom and his daughter, Carla, spent three years, comforting each other, reminiscing about life and watching the Price is Right.

Tom began fishing and hunting at an early age with his uncles around Big Lake in Bemidji.   Tom shared this love and knowledge of the outdoors with his son, Chris and grandsons, Tommy and Derrek throughout his life.  There were many Lake Mille Lacs trips to the fish house built by Tom and his three best friends.  Some of his best times were spent up at the deer cabin with numerous fishing and hunting trips with family and friends.

He loved his family and his true pleasures were when he had them all together enjoying good ‘quality' time at family gatherings.  In addition to taking great pleasure in supporting his children through coaching sports onto watching his grandchildren's Baseball games. Tom was frustrated by all the Minnesota sports teams, but  thoroughly enjoyed them - especially the Vikings, Twins and the Wild.  Tom and Sharon had Twins season tickets for a number of years and thoroughly enjoyed bringing their grandsons to the games and buying them anything they wanted.

After his beloved wife, Shar-Bear, passed away, Tom was blessed with his great grandson, Miles (Little Dude, who later became Sea Captain).   Tom enjoyed several vacations with his son, daughter and son in law, Bob before his passing.

Carla, Chris, Bob, Tommy, Derrek, Cassie and Miles would like to thank all of Tom’s “family” and friends for all the love and support during this difficult time.
