Thomas David Hammond

Thomas D. Hammond, 82, husband of Judy Grevillius Hammond passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, MN. Born September 24, 1934, in South St. Paul, MN. He was son of the late David and Nellie Hammond. Raised by the late John and Katherine Foutchis.

Tom attended South St. Paul High School where he was an All State basketball player and graduated from the University of MN. He spent his 29 year career at 3M Company. In his spare time, he was an eternal student, voracious reader and writer, teacher and director at the St. Paul Bridge Club, regularly volunteered at the food shelf, passionate about politics and was regularly published in the paper for his letters to the editor. He was an avid family man, supporting his children and grandchildren in their various passions.

He is survived by daughters Jennifer and her husband, Barry of Eagan, MN and Laurie and her husband Dan of Woodbury, MN ; 4 grandchildren, Max and Olivia Minsker and Ellie and Jaxon Weinmeyer.

Tom was an amazing man of integrity, strength and lived by the motto "Do the right thing!" He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Celebration of Life will be Friday, 6/23/17 from 4 to 7pm (Tribute begins at 5pm) at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home on Valley Creek Road in Woodbury. Tom had a passion for providing for those in need. To honor him, we ask, if you are able, please bring a food item to the service to donate to the food shelf.
