Thomas Edward Sexton, of Mendota Heights, MN, passed away on Feb. 7, 2025, days after his 87th birthday. In his final days, he was surrounded by loved ones after years of living with Alzheimer’s.
Tom grew up in W. St. Paul on a farm in the city. He graduated from Cretin High School in 1956. He served as SSgt in the Air National Guard until honorably discharged in 1961. Tom grew up in the printing business, following in the footsteps of his father. He left the family business to pursue his dream of opening an Irish wholesale business with his son, Dan.
Tom found joy in, and could talk at length about, his family, his days cruising W. St. Paul in old cars, racquetball, water & snow skiing, piloting small planes, dogs, and spending summers days on Bottle Lake. Anyone who knew Tom knew his greatest gift in life was making everyone around him laugh.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol (Herriges); children, Mary, Dan, Kenny, Ellen (Colin), Ted (Kallie); grandchildren, Charlie (Meg), Erin (Ryan), Annie, Rowan, Dana, Frannie, Auggie; great-grandchild, Elsie; brothers, Jim, Mike (Mary Ann); in-laws, Ken and Betty (Pepin) Herriges; and many nieces, nephews, cousins.
Preceding Tom in death are parents, Edward (Ted), Marie (Wolters); brothers, Billy, Jerry, John; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Hall), Susan Herriges Splinter.
We find comfort in knowing that Tom’s legacy will live on through the lessons he taught us, the stories he passionately told, the jokes we will embarrassingly carry on, and the memories we will cherish forever.
Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 4-7pm at O'Halloran & Murphy, St. Paul. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025 10am at Church of the Assumption, one hour visitation preceding. Mass will be live streamed at http://watchitlivestream.com/t-sexton/ In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or Demontreville Jesuit Retreat House (demontrevilleretreat.com).
Tom's family would like to extend their gratitude to Lilydale Senior Living and Grace Hospice for their wonderful care.
