Suzanne Tutko Obituary

Suzanne Tutko, 72, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by family in The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale, MN on April 2nd, 2026 after a year-long courageous fight with cancer.

Suzy grew up in Maplewood, MN, graduating from North St. Paul High School in 1971, and eventually earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, attending college at nights and on the weekends.

She joined 3M Company in 1971 and worked there for 37 years, retiring in 2009. The majority of that time she worked in the Human Resources department, but in her later years she also worked in the Acquisitions & Divestitures division, specializing in the human resources activities. While at 3M she enjoyed playing racquetball, tennis, and in the years closer to retirement she picked up the game of golf, which became a big focus of her retirement time.

In 2013, she and Ron built a home in Naples, FL, and joined the golf club there where Suzy's natural golf talent surfaced. She was self-taught, and became a very good golfer, enjoying time on and off the course with her fellow lady golfers.

In 2017, she and Ron also bought a condo in Maui on a golf course, where they had vacationed annually since 1983. With many beautiful golf courses, the ocean, the great weather and new friends, Suzy became a regular golfer there until selling the condo in 2025.

In Minnesota, Suzy loved to spend time "up north" in the Brainerd lakes area, with great golf courses, many lakes, and nice restaurants and resorts to stay at.

In the past 10 years she developed a love for cruising, with an Alaska cruise a particular favorite, but she and Ron went on many Caribbean cruises over the years. At home Suzy liked to do puzzles, enjoyed happy hour with friends and family, and being in her pool in Naples.

Suzy was preceded in death by her father, Gerald E. Johnson and survived by her husband, Ron Tutko, mother, Donna Johnson, and siblings Deborah Metzler, Cynthia Hoppe, Gerald J. Johnson (Candice), Julia Auerbach (Glenn), Terry Wachtler (John) and many nephews, nieces and grand-nephews.
