Stephen Joseph Walker, 75, of Saint Paul on September 5, 2022.
Born on September 7, 1946, Steve was a life-long resident of Saint Paul. He graduated from Cretin High School and completed a BA and MBA from the University of Saint Thomas. An avid reader of history and science, Steve held a private pilot’s license and loved flying.
Steve was employed by KSTP-TV from 1971 to 2009 as a photojournalist. He reported on many major news events, including the 35W bridge collapse, Mikhail Gorbachev’s 1990 visit to Minnesota, and many others over the years. Steve was awarded an Emmy for technical achievement in 2003 for his work on the “Live from the War” production. He received recognition in 1989 for Excellence from the International Teleconferencing Association.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Jean, and brothers Dennis and Patrick. He is survived by brothers Vincent (Kate), Gregory (Janine) and Christopher (Connie), sister Mary Ellen, and sister-in-law Mary Walker-Buchanan (Scott). Fondly missed by nieces and nephews James, Jesse, Dylan, Ben, Lauren, Kelsey and Ryan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Burger Moe’s, one of Steve’s favorites in Saint Paul, on Sunday, October 30 from 2:00 – 4:00.
