Stephen M Giel

Stephen (Steve) Michael Giel passed away on Wednesday, June 10 after a courageous battle with mesothelioma which had metastasized to the bones. He is survived by his wife Ruth; sisters Gail Mintz and Sue Giel; nephews Randy Mintz and Blake Mintz (Doris); and great nephews Austin, Anders and Larson; and great niece and goddaughter Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Lillian Giel. Steve was born in 1944 and raised in St. Paul Minnesota. He attended Johnson HS and went to St. Paul vocational school for machinist and tool making. He worked for Control Data which later became General Dynamics for 44 years. He served in the navy in the mid 60s and spent part of that time in Vietnam. He enjoyed classic and sports cars, motorcycles and target shooting and also spending time with his wife and friends and family. Steve is known for always wearing a smile. The service will be held at O'Halloran and Murphy on Friday, June 19 at 4:00pm (8700 Valley Creek Rd. Woodbury, MN -55125).
