Sophie (Kryzanowski) Gillmor

Sophie Gillmor (Kryzanowski), age 97 passed away in St. Paul, MN on July 16, 2025. She was born on October 31st, 1927 in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada. Sophie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald, brother Edward, sister Emily Knights and daughter Vivan Cathcart.

Survived by son, Peter (Barbara), grandsons Kevin (Camryn), Geoffrey (Keendie), Stephen Cathcart and great-grandchildren Katherine and Lewis.

An avid gardener, Sophie’s garden always contained a bounty of flowers. Sophie bowled in her Roseville league for 52 consecutive years. Always a proud Canadian, she emigrated to the United States and became a US citizen. She also travelled the world with Don, and lived for a time in both Sweden and Germany. Sophie had a strong will. She survived two battles with breast cancer. Sophie was proud of her Polish heritage. Her perogies and cabbage rolls (along with everything she cooked) were delightful. Sophie was a beautiful person inside and out, and loved by all.

Her family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and The Waters of Highland Park Care Team for their professional and compassionate care for Sophie. Sophie will be celebrated in a private ceremony with close family. If desired, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society in memory of Sophie.
