Sidney W. McGee, formerly of Mankato, died peacefully on March 14, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY in 1933, he lived his life to its fullest. He and his wife, Terri, had four sons, raising their boys in North Mankato. Sid worked for many years at Landkamer’s Furniture. He and Terri later opened a women’s clothing store at the local mall. Sid worked tirelessly with youth at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and with the Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) program in the New Ulm diocese. His work in campus ministry at Loyola High School, the youth mission trips he led to North Dakota, and the many European vacations he took with Terri were highlights of his later years.
Family was his most important treasure. Sid is survived by his sons Jon (Ann), Tim (Ann), Greg (Annie) and Brian (Andrea), his 11 grandchildren, Kaitlin (Luke), Andrew, Grace, Nick, Louie, Mae, Donovan, Ben, Jude, Carmella, and Kate, and great-granddaughter, Willow.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at Lumen Christi Catholic Church in St. Paul on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. with visitation one hour before. Private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
