Sherla Ann (Dreesen) Mayer, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was born on February 7, 1942, in Ocheyedan, Iowa, to John Dreesen and Helen (Schneiderman) Dreesen.
Sherla found great joy in spending time with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and steady presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her. She treasured every moment she shared with the people she loved most. She will be remembered for her bright smile, warm hugs and deep concern for others.
Sherla is survived by her husband David, children Peter (Becky) Mayer, Abby (Ryan) Vavra, John (Molly) Mayer, and Mark (Andrea) Mayer, grandchildren Ava, Kayleigh, Leo, Otto, Maci, Helen, Thea, Emily and Margot. She is also survived by her siblings Ben (Karen) Dreesen, Janelle (Gary) Drent, John (Anita) Dreesen, Mim Hibma, Judy (Cecil) Walden, Bob (Patty) Dreesen, Peggy Luke, Lynette (Dale) Nystrom, Jerry Breuker, Lynn Dreesen, Jo (Lee) Bruns, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Dreesen, son Benji, sisters Janola Murra, Char Breuker, and brother Don Dreesen.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the House of Hope – Stephen Ministry program or Joseph’s Coat (Joseph's Coat | Sharing Donations With Those in Need). A memorial service will be held at House of Hope Presbyterian Church, 797 Summit Ave. St. Paul, MN 55105, on Sunday, May 3, 2026 with a gathering of friends and family at 1:00 pm, a service at 2:15 pm and reception to follow.
