Russell J. Sudeith, Jr. of Mendota Heights, Minn. died on May 29, 2023.
Russ was born in St. Paul, Minn. on March 19, 1940. After attending St. Matthew’s, he graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall (formerly Cretin High School) in 1958 and completed his undergraduate work at the University of St. Thomas in 1962 with a B.A. in Business Administration. He earned his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 1966. He was the first in his family to attend college.
Russ spent his entire career at the law firm of Felhaber, Larson, Fenlon & Vogt specializing in business and corporate law, primarily mergers and acquisitions. After serving as the President and Chair of the Felhaber Larson Board of Directors, he retired after 50 years. He is remembered as an exceptional lawyer, mentor, and friend. He was actively involved in numerous business and charitable organizations in the community, such as the Neighborhood House and the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Russ enjoyed fish fries at the lake with family and friends, reading, dancing, fishing, and traveling. He lived on the West Side of the Mississippi in or near St. Paul all his life. Values instilled by his grandparents, parents, and schools informed his compassionate and generous nature and strong work ethic. His smile, sense of humor, and outstanding angling skills will leave a lasting legacy.
Russ is survived by his companion Roxanne Sands; children, Kevin (Alexandra Warren) and Timothy (Mertyce Mrvos); grandchildren, Logan and Meryl; brother William (Sharon); sister-in-law Patricia Welch; brothers-in-law, Fr. Gregory Welch and Dave Zupfer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Ann; sister, Mary Zupfer; and parents, Russell and Marie.
Mass of Christian Burial June 8, 10AM at Church of the Assumption, 51 7th Street W. Visitation June 7, 4-8PM at O’Halloran & Murphy, 575 S. Snelling Ave. St. Paul and one hour prior to Mass at the Church. Entombment Resurrection.
