Russell Hager Obituary

Russell Hager

7/10/53-2/19/26

It is with heavy hearts we announced the passing of our beloved brother Russell Hager who quietly departed this earth on February 19, 2026. Russ was the 1st born to Jack and Shirley Hager on July 10, 1953. Russell was a quiet man whose life spoke through his work and presence. An elite woodworker and true craftsman, he had an extraordinary gift for shaping wood into pieces of lasting beauty. His work was not just functional; it was art, built with patience & precision. He helped many people over the years; showing up when something needed fixing, building or improving. His kindness was quiet, but ran deep. His integrity, generosity and quiet strength left a lasting impression on those fortunate to know him. He was a carpenter & locksmith for SPPS for 27 years. He is survived by siblings, Barbara Olson, Mary Jo Luna, Michael (Barb) Hager, Jackie (Mike) Higgins; beloved nieces, and nephews and dear Auntie & Uncle. Preceded in death by his loving parents. His craftsmanship lives on in the many homes and hearts he touched. We warmly invite anyone who owns one of his handmade pieces to bring it to the memorial so we may celebrate the legacy he built with his hands. Photos of larger pieces are also welcome. Please join us for visitation and luncheon beginning at 11AM to 1PM, Wednesday, March 11, at O’Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home (575 Snelling Ave S. St. Paul). In honor of Russell’s life, please donate to ALCAS/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
