Russell Vanner Carlson

Russell Carlson, 71, of St Paul, passed away surrounded by family at home. Russell was joined in marriage to Jim on December 6, 2013. He had the joy of becoming a father to Krysten in January of 1981. In 2015 he became a ‘Bupa’ to Hannah and Gabriel, his grandchildren. He served as Parish Administrator at Immanuel Lutheran Church for 15 years and has served as Director of Music Ministries at Grace Lutheran Church in St Paul. Through his life as a musician, he was a church musician playing the organ, directing choirs and bells. He also sang with the Exultate Chorus for several years. He enjoyed reading, card games (especially Rummy), sewing, and spending time in Duluth with family. He is survived by husband Jim Albrecht, daughter Krysten Carlson, grandchildren Hannah and Gabriel Callahan, and brother Don (Vicki). He is preceded in death by parents Roy and Joyce Carlson, and brothers Carly and Bobby John. A visitation will be held for Russell on Friday, February 14 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 1730 Old Hudson Road, St Paul, Minnesota 55106, with a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
