Ronald Lee Roed and Ingrid Maria Roed (Lein) both entered into eternal rest on Monday February 15, 2021, passing only hours apart from each other. Ron was born in Chicago on June 20, 1940 and Ingrid was born in Washington D.C. on August 16, 1942. They were united in marriage in Washington D.C. July 21, 1966. Ron began his career as a musician – teaching in Chicago, then in the Army band (Pershing’s Own) in Washington D.C. He had the opportunity to play for President John F. Kennedy’s funeral. He also played as a sub in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Ron changed careers to explore the newly emerging field of computers, after he and Ingrid welcomed twin daughters, as a better paying gig was needed. Ingrid worked in Washington D.C. at the U.S. Department of Congress, until she and Ron moved to Chicago. She then devoted her time to taking care of her three children. When they entered high school, Ingrid was able to go back to work, and worked in various businesses, as she and Ron moved around the country. Ingrid finished her working career at DJ Mehler Bath and Tile in San Francisco, CA. Ron and Ingrid loved to travel, and that included moving quite a bit as they raised their family. Beginning in Maryland at the time of their marriage, then moving to Chicago, IL. From there, moving to Lake Zurich, IL as the children began school. Within a couple of years, they moved back to Maryland for another couple years. Ron then switched companies to join the newly formed Control Data Corporation, and moved the family to Eden Prairie, MN. After a couple of years in Eden Prairie, the family moved to West Windsor, New Jersey. A final move ensued, while the kids were still in school, back to Plymouth, MN. They stayed in Plymouth for the longest time of all the moves – almost 6 years. After their son graduated high school, Ron and Ingrid moved back to New Jersey, and from there to San Francisco. They spent 15 years in California and loved the culture, the food and all the myriad of things available to do. Ron and Ingrid ultimately moved to St. Paul, MN at retirement, to be closer to two of their children, although the cold was not their favorite. During all of their time together, they loved to travel for fun, and combine Ron’s work travel with fun. Some of the places they traveled to were Mexico, France, Great Britain, Italy – they loved Rome and Venice – and other amazing locations. Ron and Ingrid had a wonderful life and loved each other deeply. So deeply, that their passing just hours apart, was really a blessing for them, although hard on their loved ones, including their children. Ron and Ingrid are preceded in death by their parents, Lee and Wanda (Ogorek) Roed, and Paul and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Lein. Also preceding them in death are, Ron’s sister, Marilyn Rebman, and Ingrid’s brother, Stephen Lein. Ron and Ingrid are survived by their children, Astrid Kammueller (Kevin), Heidi Bares (David), and Peter Roed (Jodi). They are also survived by Ron’s brother, James Roed (Debra); and grandchildren, Audrey Sutton (Robert), Lee Bares (Caylee), Inga Kammueller, Alex Bares, Ray Bares, and Greta Kammueller; nieces and nephews. A walkthrough visitation will be held on Friday, February 26 at O’Halloran & Murphy, 575 S. Snelling Avenue, St. Paul, MN, from 4-7PM.
