Ronald "Ron" Patrick Smith II, 54 - born January 19, 1971, passed away on March 17 in Colorado while snowboarding, doing what he loved.
Ron was the youngest of six children born to Ronald and Mary Smith. He grew up in Mendota Heights and was a graduate of Saint Thomas Academy (Class of 1989), Colorado State University (BA), and the University of Colorado (MS -Telecommunications). Ron enjoyed an accomplished career as an Information Security Architect and Consultant with several Fortune 500 Companies and was also proud of obtaining multiple professional certifications.
Ron was a loving husband and caring father who offered unconditional love and support. He took great interest in his children’s passions, pursuits and personal development. He embraced adventure and lived his life to the fullest, enjoying snowboarding, mountain biking, road biking, motorcycling, guitar playing, traveling, and creating memories with his family and friends. Ron especially enjoyed his time in Colorado exploring the back country and spending time at his cabin, “Rocky Retreat” near Breckenridge.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Pam, and his children Ethan, Charlotte, and Natalie Smith and Sam and Alex Eichacker, parents Ron and Mary Smith, siblings Lisa (Pat) Schoenberg, Michele (Jim) Kolar, Pat Smith, Brian (Jill) Smith, Katy (Jarrod) Lynch, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Ron is preceded in death by his grandparents Florence and Paul Joyce, and Myrle and Clem Smith, aunt Eleanor Joyce, and uncles Paul Joyce, Chuck Stangel and Lance Moberg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Thomas Becket, 4455 S. Robert Trail, Eagan, on Saturday, April 5 at 11am with visitation one and a half hours preceding the service. Ron will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
