Robert “Bob” Dorobiala
August 26, 1949 - November 8, 2023
Beloved husband, father, proud grandfather “papa,” brother, uncle, and friend Robert Paul Dorobiala, age 74 of Woodbury, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 8, 2023 after a nearly 7 year battle with myelodysplastic syndrome. Bob was born on August 26, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to Pauline (Kniskern) Dorobiala and Conrad Dorobiala. After graduating from Glenview South High School in 1967, he studied at Stout State University in Menomonie, Wisconsin and joined national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. He graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic arts and photography. He met Kristine Score, daughter of the owner of Menomonie’s Pontiac car dealership and they fell in love and married on April 27, 1974. They began their life together in the suburbs of Chicago, where their two daughters were born.
“Binder Bob” made his career in printing, lithography, graphic arts, and photography. He founded his own business called RPD Graphics and also worked for his father’s business, Cedar Valley Printing where their projects included Ovation Records and the Ludwig Drum Company. He was an accomplished salesman with Rockwell International selling printing presses. He served as president of the Twin Cities Litho Club, and board member of the Stout Alumni Association. Bob enjoyed classic cars, hunting, fishing, politics, Chicago Bears football, and especially reading to his grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Conrad and Pauline Dorobiala, parents in law Lee and Dorothy Score, close special Aunt Robin Kniskern.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years Kris. He is survived by his oldest daughter Brooke (Michael) Schaeffer and grandchildren Sabrina, Spencer, and Scarlett. He is survived by his youngest daughter Bethany (Ethan) Peterson and grandchildren Pearl, Esther, and Miriam. He is also survived by his sister Laurel (Michael) Ebersohl, brother Lee (Candice) Dorobiala, sister in law Judith (Richard) Felts, and loving nieces Tamara, Tialynn, Tiffany, Hannah, and nephew Connor.
The family thanks the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center and Dr. David Shrake and staff of Allina Health Woodbury Clinic for the excellent, compassionate care.
Memorial Service 11AM Saturday, Nov. 18th at Memorial Lutheran Church of Afton, 15730 S Afton Blvd, Afton, MN 55001, with visitation one hour prior. Luncheon to follow.
