Richard Fields was born December 5, 1932. Died October 27, 2025, Preceded in death by Mary Fields (2022) and his parents Elvin L. Fields and Ruth T. (Lessin) Fields. Richard was born in Pipestone, MN but grew up In Crosby-Ironton, MN. He graduated from C-I followed by two years of college in Brainerd with an associate’s degree. During this time, he met his wife-to-be, Mary Roscoe. He married Mary Roscoe in 1953 and lived in the Brainerd/Crosby area until 1960. Moving to St. Paul in 1960, Richard was hired by 3M while also working at completing his bachelor’s degree from UMN in physics, chemistry and math in 1964. In 1964 Richard and his family moved to Woodbury, where he had a great career with 3M until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his sons Richard Jr. (Carol), Jeffery (Jodi), and his daughters Patti Scott (Randy) and Karen Anderson (John), seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He loved family, friends, golfing and woodworking. A funeral mass will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Oakdale, MN on Thursday, November 13. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Guardian Angels cemetery immediately following the service. Lunch will be served in the church basement immediately following the burial. In lieu of gifts and flowers, donations to Salvation Army is preferred.
