Richard W. Crofford was born in Kannapolis, NC. Wixie, as he was often called, was the fifth oldest of eight children. He spent his early years in Dallas before moving to Denver where he completed his elementary school years. Rich always said Denver was the best place to be a Boy Scout. Climbing Mount Audubon, camping, and swimming in snow-fed lakes were some of his fondest memories as a child. Rich attended Highland Park High School, where he took part in an independent study program his senior year and went to work at G.C. Murphy Department Store. It was here where he met Terri.
Rich and Terri were married in 1975. They purchased a home in Roseville, MN where they raised their three sons. Rich loved being a dad. He volunteered as the Scout Master for his sons’ troop, ushered at his church, enjoyed playing golf, and loved to shoot pool. In retirement, Rich enjoyed traveling and spending time with his five beautiful grandchildren.
Rich was the founder and CEO of TLC Electronics, Inc. from 1984 to 2014. He was proud of the company he had built and the work environment he created for his employees.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Emily Crofford; sister, Kathy Mirsch, and brother, Philip.
Survived by his wife of 49 years, Terri (Hurd) Crofford; sons, Richie (Megan), Jon (Laura), Alex (Amber); five beautiful grandchildren; siblings, Bobby, Suzie Browne-Wick, Joyce (Doug) Conway, Julie Crofford, and Mary Rauchwarg.
A special thank you to our friends and the staff at Lyngblomsten Care Center and Allina Hospice for the wonderful care he received.
