Raymond John Grilz
Age 86, life-long resident of St. Paul, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones January 10, 2025, at home.
Ray was born August 3, 1938, to Mathias and Mary (Tschida) Grilz. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School and married Mary Leonhard, the love of his life in 1961. Ray served honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He could fix anything and loved his work as a mechanic, supervisor, and shop manager. Ray truly was a friend to all. He enjoyed fishing at the lake, watching football, hunting, gardening, cooking, helping a neighbor, and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; parents, Matthias and Mary, and siblings Marie, Don, Larry, Fritz, Margaret, Emma, Joe, Kate, and Rich. He is survived by his son, John (Amy), daughter Susan (Kelly), grandchildren Ethan, Mary Kate, Michael, Daniel, Faith, brothers Bob and Ed, and a cherished community of neighbors and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 18th at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (515 S Albert St, St Paul, MN 55116) with an hour visitation prior. Lunch to follow mass and burial at Resurrection Cemetery after.
