Patricia Ann Schray (nee Goetz)
Age 84
St Paul MN in St Paul MN
Born January 26, 1937
It's with heavy hearts we announce our Mom, Patricia Schray, passed peacefully in her sleep the evening of July 13, 2021 after suffering three strokes over 10 years time.
Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband John (Bud) Schray, brother in law, Robert Schray, Doreen Schray (Ray) and special friend Gary Conway, Parents Harold and Agnes Goetz, beloved Aunt Lorraine (Jim) Ruzichka, Mildred Root (Donald) and many friends.
Pat is survived by her loving family. Son, Doug Schray (Jeanie), Daughter, Diane Schray, and the apple of her eye, grandson, John Nathan Stolzberg Schray, sister Janet Gritzmacher (Mike) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Special friend, Bob Otto was a steadfast presence and dear friend.
Pat worked at Shaw Lumber Company for many years as an administrative assistant, on the day of her retirement she was surprised with an offer of a new position as a doting Grandmother. She joyfully accepted this position and executed it with gusto.
Pat's gardens were legendary. Like her hair and makeup, not a blade of grass was ever out of place and everything was color coordinated and organized.
She also was an accomplished pianist and organist and had a lifelong love of music and flower arranging.
She also took thrift shopping and bargain hunting to an Olympic level:) She loved her clothes and bling!
Pat also loved spending time with her children for their annual 3 week summer vacation at the family Island property on Sandstone Lake in Thunder Bay Ontario. Birthplace of her husband John. This was the source of many happy memories for the whole family. She shopped and planned for weeks and diligently packed everything (including the kitchen sink) into the trusty Buick station wagon for the yearly pilgrimage North. How she and our Dad made the 7+ hour drive with 2 bickering children we'll never know. I remember there was always a huge bottle of cold duck wine at the ready to steady her nerves during vacation.
Grateful thanks to the wonderful staff at The Shores of Lake Phalen for their loving and compassionate care of our Mom over the past several years.
Special thanks to Annie, Lucy, and Shanel of Intrepid Hospice. You provided tremendous joy, comfort and most importantly, dignity, to our Mom in her final days. You are truly Angels on Earth.
Godspeed Maggie. You are finally free of the pain and confines of your fading and failing body, and your Spirit is able to soar joyously and free. I'm sure Dad is waiting on the other side with open arms!!!
You were deeply loved.
