Oliver "Ollie" Michael Wold

Oliver "Ollie" Michael Wold, age 8, of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Oliver’s life will be celebrated on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road, Woodbury, MN 55125. There will be a visitation from 2pm to 4 pm, with the service starting at 4pm and can be viewed here, funeral.wlc.church. There will be a dessert reception immediately following the service. The family encourages everyone to dress casual and wear green in honor of Oliver’s favorite color.

Oliver was born March 26, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He was born with a severe brain injury which caused him to have cerebral palsy. From the very beginning Oliver had a lot to teach us about fighting as he spent 21 days fighting in the NICU. He was baptized into Christ on May 15, 2016, and we just knew that Oliver loved being part of God’s family.

Oliver reflected God’s selfless love and compassion his whole life. Oliver fought hard for everything for his entire life but brought joy no matter what. We learned to be better people because of him. This is a story that we have heard from countless others who have been lucky enough to know Oliver. He brought others incredible happiness with his amazing toothless smile, his endless pleasure in loud noises and his love of a good beat. Oliver loved the color green and hearing his sister read him stories. He loved getting cuddled, bounced on a trampoline and enjoyed swinging.

Oliver was a 1st grader at Pine Bend Elementary in Inver Grove Heights, and he sure loved his school friends. Sometimes, he found things so funny in class, and he would start to laugh, and pretty soon everyone was laughing so they had to take a break for everyone to finish laughing before they could start learning again. Oliver loved the dress up days at school – even a chance to dress up like Principal Richardson.

Oliver is survived by his parents, Michael and Marysa, his sister, Harper, his grandparents, Gene and Linda Sommerfeld, Dillworth, MN, Debbie Wold, Burnsville, MN, and Peter Wold, Bullhead City, AZ, great-grandmother Bernadine Muehler, Wahpeton, ND, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.

Oliver is preceded in death by his great grandfather, Delmar Muehler, great-grandparents, Harlan and Rose Wold, Walter and Alice Sommerfeld, Gerald and Lois Tesch.
