Norma Eileen Harvath, most recently of St. Paul, MN, passed away December 27th at the age of 94.
Norma was born to Frank and Emma (Keller) Greskoviak in Minonk, IL. She was married to Joseph Harvath for 57 years until his death in 2012. Together, they raised ten children and established a legacy of dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Enamored with babies and children, Norma was a pediatric nurse for more than 30 years and retired from Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI. Though born in Illinois, Norma moved to Wisconsin after nursing school and was proud to call it her home.
Norma was outgoing, intrepid and hardworking. She was resolute in her Catholic faith and often praised the nuns who influenced her early life. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, rummage sales, and reading. She was known for prolific letter-writing and dedicated hours of every week sending hand-written notes to family, friends, or anybody she wanted to encourage. Her optimism and strength will be missed by the many people who knew her and those on whose lives she left an indelible mark.
In her later years, Norma moved to St. Paul where she received exceptional care and attention from her three daughters who live in the area. This afforded her independence that she cherished.
In addition to her husband and parents, Norma is preceded in death by her sister, Ruth (Cabal), and her daughter, Mary (Staros).
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 AM, Friday, January 2nd, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1938 Stanford Ave, St Paul, with a visitation 1 hour prior to Mass.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
