Nona Mosvick Obituary

Nona Marie Mosvick (Oothoudt)
May 31, 1930 – March 31, 2026

Nona Marie Mosvick, born May 31, 1930, in Minot, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Nona dedicated much of her life to education, working as a teacher who was deeply loved by her students. She had a special gift for connecting with young people and creating a warm, engaging classroom. Among her many memorable moments in teaching were the times she had the unique opportunity to substitute teach for her two sons, Matthew and Mark—an experience they both remember with a mix of pride and playful embarrassment.

In addition to her career, Nona was a devoted homemaker who created a loving and supportive home for her family. She was an avid reader and a remarkable storyteller, bringing characters to life with her expressive voice. Her sons fondly remember her animated readings.

Nona had a wonderful sense of humor and found joy in laughter, sharing it generously with those around her. She remained incredibly sharp and spirited throughout her life, a testament to her strength and vitality.

She was united in marriage to Roger Mosvick, with whom she shared a life of love and partnership.

Nona was preceded in death by her husband Roger; parents, Maynard and Ella Oothoudt, her granddaughter, Melissa Mosvick, and her siblings: Elaine, Marvin, Delores, Maynard (Buster), Kipton (Skip), Dennis.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Barb) and Matthew (Cheryl); her grandchildren: Kristin (Mike), Mitchell (Bailey), Nicholas (Lindsey), Erik (Meghan); 8 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 26, at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Acacia Cemetery in Mendota Heights.

Nona will be remembered for her warmth, her wit, her love of learning, and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
