Miriam Schliesing Obituary

Miriam Dorothy Schliesing (née Brooks), age 88, of Maplewood, MN, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in Saint Paul, MN.

Born September 21, 1937, in Morristown, MN, Miriam was a remarkable woman of her generation. She lived through decades of history with quiet grace, stubborn determination, and a generous heart that poured itself out for her family above all else. She gave her life selflessly to her beloved husband Rheinhart and to those she loved, always ready with a quick wit, impeccable fashion sense, and a warm smile for everyone she met.

An amazing baker and Christmas decorator extraordinaire, Miriam truly came alive during the holidays. She loved Christmas with unmatched passion, transforming her home into a magical wonderland and filling it with the scents of her homemade treats and the joy of family gatherings. Beyond the kitchen and holidays, she cherished simple joys: playing cards, enthusiastically rooting for Minnesota sports teams, and creating moments of connection that lasted a lifetime.

She instilled deep values in her family: the importance of hard work, sacrifice for those you love, loving others unconditionally, and holding onto hope no matter what (proven by her lifelong support of Minnesota sports teams).

Preceded in death by her devoted husband, Rheinhart Schliesing (2006), her mother Dorothy Bever, and her brother Eugene Brooks.

Miriam is survived by her siblings: Sandra Jennings, Pat Cuzzolino, and Jeff Brooks (wife Sandy); her son Brad Schliesing; her grandchildren: Patrick Schliesing (wife Emalyn), Julia Coleman (husband Jacob), Brian Schliesing, and Catherine Schliesing; and her four great-grandchildren: Adam Coleman, Mara Schliesing, Charles Coleman, and James Coleman.
