Mary (Holland) Andrews

Mary Holland Andrews, our fearless leader and guiding light, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 12, 2025. 

Mary was born August 26, 1943 in Glounathnaw, Ireland to John and Kathleen Holland. Sister to Breda, Kathleen, Siobhan, Ann and the late Margaret, Jerry, Tommy, Sean, and Michael. She loved nothing more than waking early to spend a few precious moments with her parents. With the blessing of her father, Mary came to the United States in 1960. She spent some amazing years in Boston, which lead to her meeting and marrying a sailor, and the love of her life, Stan Andrews. They would have celebrated 56 years together in August. Her son Michael (Nikki), made her a mama in 1970 and her daughter, Jennifer Andrews Gonzaga (Eric) completed their family in 1973. 

Her role as Grandma Mary began in 2000. She was always happy to tell you how fabulous any of her 7 grandkids were-whether you asked her to or not. And if you crossed any of them in any way, she wouldn’t easily forget. Never shy and always proud-nothing could stop her from cheering on and supporting her grandkids- and their friends- in whatever they were doing. We have yet to find anyone that could out cheer her! Mary, Margaret, Anna, Kathleen, Jacob, Ian and Joey will forever be changed because they were loved by her. 

Mary was a fierce protector of those she cared for and never met a person she wasn’t willing to help. She spent many years of her life caring for others-and would do anything she could to make their lives easier. She was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, friend, mother, grandmother- and weiner dog mom to many! She will be missed more than we can say. 

We are the people we are because of who she believed we could be. 

A celebration of life will take place Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Saint Ambrose of Woodbury, Minnesota with a visitation at 10 am and funeral at 11 am. Donations in her honor can be made to Regis High School, Eau Claire. A private burial in Calvary Catholic cemetery in Eau Claire, WI will take place at a later date.
