Marilyn Rose Sanft
August 26, 1937 – June 10, 2026
Marilyn Rose Sanft, age 88, of Roseville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2026, after a long and courageous journey with dementia.
Born on August 26, 1937, in Mankato, Minnesota, Marilyn was the daughter of Cyril and Mary Helen (Buckley) Hub. She graduated from Good Counsel Catholic High School in Mankato and began her career at Dayton’s. Throughout her life, Marilyn was known for her deep faith, steady devotion to family, and the warmth she extended to friends, neighbors, and all who knew her.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Rose, Roseville school teacher and Minnesota State Representative; her beloved son, Daniel Rose, and her late husband of 35 years, Gerald “Jerry” Sanft. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Kathy (Robb) Gilman, Julie Rose (Jim Sweeney), and Keith (Julie) Rose; and her stepchildren, Julie (Jeff) Banning and Jim (Janell) Sanft; her sisters, Rosemary Petersen, Dolores Schmitz, and Jeannette Laqua.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to: Calvin (Darya) Gilman, Zach (Kristin) Gilman, Teddy (Shianne) Rose, Jackson Rose, Sam Rose, Doug (Bethany) Banning, Greg (Betsy) Banning, Brad Banning, Emily (Tony) Henely, Elizabeth (Richard) Middlebrooks, Katie (Graham) Desmond, Evan (Nicole) Sanft, Ryan (Rebecca) Sanft, Tyler (Maddie) Sanft.
Marilyn was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to the compassionate staff of St. Croix Hospice, and to Marilyn’s devoted team of caregivers.
Visitation and funeral Mass will be held at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2048 Hamline Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113 on Friday, July 10, 2026. Visitation at 9:00 a.m., Mass at 10:00 a.m., and a luncheon to follow.
