Born in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Greek immigrant parents, Marie had deep pride in her Greek heritage. Marie grew up in Mason City, IA and came to St Paul in 1954 after marrying fellow proud Greek-American, James G. Paulos. Marie was a member of St George Greek Orthodox Church for 65 years where she taught Greek language classes to the children, made Greek pastries for bake sales, worked at the Festival of Nations and served on committees to improve the parish. Fluent in Greek, Marie was a volunteer at the U of M/Children's Heartlink program in the 1980's, interpreting for children who traveled from Greece to MN for life saving heart surgery. Marie's claim to fame was holding the title of Miss Mason City, Iowa 1950. Marie was at her best when her kitchen table was full with family and she was serving them her delicious pastitsio. Marie was also an accomplished piano player and lived independently in her Roseville home until age 95. Preceded in death by her husband, James G.
