Muggs was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a proud St Paul native with deep St. Paul roots, and her family always came first. Her strong Catholic faith was the center of her life and was instilled in her entire family and in everything she did. With her husband Bob, they took up downhill skiing in the mid 1960’s and taught all of their kids how to ski at Buck Hill. Ski trips to Sugar Hills, the upper peninsula of Michigan, Whitefish Montana and Georgetown Colorado were always an adventure as they packed the entire family into their station wagon for the eventful journeys.
Summer gatherings at The Murnane Family cabin on Rush Lake on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes in Crosslake were a cherished family tradition for Bob and Muggs and her last visit to her cabin was 3 weeks ago. Her great grandchildren represent the 6th generation of Murnane Family members to visit and enjoy the beauty of this area.
Muggs graduated from St Lukes elementary school in St Paul and The Convent of Visitation in 1953. She went on to receive her teaching degree at the University of St. Catherine and taught elementary school before she began raising her family with Bob.
In addition to packing school lunches daily for her 6 children and attending countless parent teacher conferences and Nativity of Our Lord Grade School events, Muggs volunteered much of her time over the years to causes she was passionate about including Lawyers Wives of St Paul, Children’s Hospital Guild of St. Paul, and the St Joseph’s Hospital Gift Shop.
Muggs will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to all, devoted to her strong Catholic faith. Her genuine passion and caring for others before herself, defined her.
A mass to celebrate her life will be held at Nativity of Our Lord church in St. Paul at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday March 4th, 2026, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The service will be live streamed as well and available at www.nativitystpaul.org. A private burial will be held this summer in Crosslake Mn. Donations may be made to Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church, Our Lady of Peace Home or Visitation School.
