Margaret Rose Davern Delapaz

Marg was born on July 23, 1937, in Saint Paul, Minnesota and died there on April 22, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Catherine and William J. Davern. Marg is survived by her beloved husband, Dick Delapaz, sisters Mary Schoeller (Tom) and Rita Davern (Bob Schunicht), brothers Tom (Colleen) and Bill (Sue) Davern, as well as nieces and nephews and their children, and many dear friends from Minnesota, Chicago and south Florida.

Marg was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet community from 1956-75. After leaving the convent, she worked as a religious educator. Throughout her career, she was a dedicated teacher for students from first grade through college. Her favorite job was teaching English as a second language to immigrant students from around the world. She taught them - and they taught her - about their cultures.

When Marg and Dick married, his 3M job required a move to southeast Florida, where they were active parish and community members for forty years. Health concerns led them to return to Minnesota in 2022. Marg loved travel. She visited her homeland of County Clare, Ireland, Europe, South and Central America. Two things mattered most to Marg: her love for family and friends, and contributing generously to the cause of justice in the world.

She will be greatly missed.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at the Church of the Assumption,

51 West Seventh Street, St. Paul, MN 55102. Visitation at 9 AM, funeral mass at 10 AM followed by a luncheon. Internment at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
