Lugarda Veronica McDonald, age 98, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at United Hospital.

Lugarda was born on January 1, 1928, in Cannon Falls. She lived a life centered on faith, family, and kindness, and was deeply loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary McDonald, Michele Pastorius (Ken), Carol Craig (Mike), Charlene Goldschmidt (Gary), and Theresa Person (Jay); son-in-law Jim LeFebvre; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Lugarda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David McDonald; her daughter, Katharine LeFebvre; and her great-grandson, Finley Broughton.

Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 16th at Church of St. Columba, 1327 Lafond Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.

Lugarda will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery.

She will be remembered for her loving spirit, devotion to her family, and the many lives she touched throughout her long and meaningful life.
