Lucy Gibbs Imholte, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. 

Born March 4, 1933, in St. Paul to Dr. Edward and Wilma Gibbs, Lucy graduated from Derham Hall High School in 1951 and from the College of St. Catherine Nursing School in 1954. She married John “Jack” Imholte in 1955. The couple lived in St. Paul before moving to Morris, MN, in 1960, where they were part of the founding faculty at the University of Minnesota Morris. 

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and siblings Edward “Ned,” Jimmy, Mary, Gertrude “Bambi,” and Judy. 

She is survived by her children: Sara (Clint) Beckstrand, Rachel Imholte (John Yeamen), John (Lynda) Imholte, Rebecca “B” (Tonia) Aslakson, and Joseph (Sarah) Imholte; and eight grandchildren: Matthew (Cate), Jack, Hailey, Elizabeth, William, Clare, Maria, and Erik. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 24, at 10:00 AM at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2055 Bohland Ave., St. Paul, MN. Visitation one hour prior to Mass. Luncheon to follow. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota Morris John Q. Imholte Endowment Fund
