Lloyd Goerke of Woodbury 

Lloyd completed his earthly sojourn on November 24, 2025, at age 94. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cora Goerke, and sister Fern Imus. He is survived by his lovely wife, Ann, adopted son, Charles Anderson (Lesa); stepson Robbin Anderson (Valerie); two granddaughters; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; two nieces; and one nephew. 

Lloyd Goerke was born to Wiiliam and Cora Goerke on January 5, 1931. He grew up on the family farm near Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. Lloyd attended a one-room country school in the first eight grades, after which he attended and then graduated from his hometown high school as valedictorian in 1949. He received his degree in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1953. 

Lloyd worked at Mallinckrodt Chemical Works in St. Louis, Missouri before enlisting in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Officer Candidate in early 1956. He was commissioned later that year and then took basic flight training in Pensacola, Florida followed by advanced flight training in Hutchinson, Kansas. He received his Navy Wings of Gold in 1957. Lloyd served a two-year overseas tour flying in the Western Pacific region. He continued flying with the Naval Reserve out of Minneapolis for three years. He started his 32-year career at 3M company in early 1960. He served in four plants in various technical and supervisory positions, in two as production superintendent, in two as plant manager, and then finished at the 3M Center. He retired as Division Manufacturing Director in 1991. 

During his retirement years Lloyd enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, reading, traveling, and volunteer work. His volunteer work included meals-on-wheels, food shelf, Tax-Aide for the elderly, and Wesley Meals for the disadvantage in downtown Minneapolis. He was an avid Golden Gopher football and basketball fan. Part of Lloyd's legacy will be endowment of funds for scholarships in his name at the University of Minnesota and Carleton College. He has been a member of Grove United Methodist Church since 1991, serving on its Board of Trustees, one year as chairman. 

There will be an evening visitation on Friday, December 19 from 5-7 at O'Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home in Woodbury, 8700 Valley Creek Rd, Woodbury, MN 55125 

A funeral service will be held the following morning at The Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 20, with the visitation starting at 10am, the memorial service at 11am and lunch to follow at noon. 

A Fort Snelling National Cemetery inurnment will be at a later date.
