Linda Seyfarth Obituary

Linda Sue Seyfarth (née Pickett)

Recently of Shoreview MN, previously of Papillion NE, but truly a citizen of the world, Linda passed away at age 79 on May 1, 2025. Born in Pinner, England to a Scottish mother (Joan MacIntyre Pickett) and a soldier from Iowa (Allan Leo Pickett), Linda grew up all over the US before settling in Des Moines IA. She was studying elementary education at Drake University when she met John Seyfarth, a handsome ROTC student, on a blind date. On the second date, Linda took John’s hand in hers (a bold move John has always appreciated) & never let go. He convinced Linda to marry into the Air Force on June 11, 1967 & they spent the next 57 years holding hands all over the globe. They lived & worked everywhere from Japan to Guam to Nebraska, raising their two sons into citizens of the world who cherish family, embrace adventure & miss their mother tremendously.

Linda is survived by her husband John, sons Bryan (Susan) & Scott (Jodi), beloved granddaughters Maddi (Pierce), Claudia, Sydney & Greta, siblings Keith (Jane), Steve, Bob (Sara), & Karen (Steve), brother-in-law George (Dee), & a dear extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.

We will celebrate Linda’s life on Saturday May 17th at 10:30 am at Falcon Heights Church (UCC) in Falcon Heights MN. Visitation begins at 9:30 am & refreshments will follow the service. Linda loved to wear blue & we are inviting attendees to do the same. Linda’s ashes will be interred privately at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

If you’re unable to attend the service in person, you are welcome to join us online using this link: https://bit.ly/SeyfarthMemorial

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Omaha PEO chapter’s STAR scholarship Fund. Linda believed deeply in educating women & girls, & she lived out that belief through service to & leadership within her PEO chapter. The STAR scholarship (a one-time gift of $2,500) is given to an exceptional young woman in her final year of high school in Omaha or a surrounding small town to attend an accredited university.

Donations can be made online https://www.peointernational.org/make-a-gift/#donate (please choose PEO chapter “GM\NE Omaha” from the drop down menu & list Linda Seyfarth as the honoree).

If preferred, donations can be mailed. Make checks payable to PEO Foundation & in the memo line, please write “In Memorial of Linda Seyfarth (Chapter GM) STAR Scholarship”. Mail checks to:
