Kevin Scott, age 69, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, August 8, 2025, after a very brief battle with pancreatic cancer with his husband Ken Weakley by his side. Ken was blessed to have Kevin share his life with him for over 42 years. Kevin was born and raised in Alton, Illinois, a suburb of St. Louis. His father was a Nazarene minister, which allowed Kevin to also live in Carlinvillle, Illinois for several years. He also lived for several years in Kankakee, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He lived many years in Houston, Texas, where he retired from Harris County Library Administration in 2007. After retiring, he and his family moved to Woodbury, Minnesota, where he recently passed.
Kevin’s laughter, smile, humor, kindness, intelligence, creativity and compassion will be greatly missed! Like his mother and father, he never realized how many people he blessed with his presence throughout his life. No one was a stranger.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Myrtle (Brandenburg) Scott and his brothers Clayton, Kelly and Ralph Scott. He is survived by his husband Ken Weakley, his daughter Dawn (Chris) McBride of Waukesha, Wisconsin, his sisters Gloria (Roger) Lorts of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Janice “Jan” Weeks of Greenwood, Indiana. He is also survived by his nieces Jeanie (Tim) Vogel of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Jan (Rob) Sawyer of Tempe, Arizona, as well as many other nieces and nephews and countless friends.
