Julia Elspeth (Dunlop) Friesen

Friesen, Julia (Dunlop) Elspeth age 90 of St. Paul, Minnesota passed away on December 14, 2025. She was born in London, Ontario near her hometown of Exeter, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario and then School of Social Work, University of Toronto with a master's degree in social work. She worked for the Winona School District and for the St. Louis County Department of Human Services in Virginia, Minnesota as a child protection social worker supervisor until her retirement in 1998.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Gordon Dunlop and Muriel (Bryan) Dunlop and her husband of 56 years, Miller A. Friesen. She is survived by her children, Susan (Paul) Bullard of St. Paul, Minnesota and Peter (Gail) Friesen of Maplewood, Minnesota, as well as grandson, Andrew (Dr. Corbin Weaver) Bullard of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Julie loved jazz and Lake Vermilion where she and Miller retired and Lake Havasu City, Arizona where she and Miller spent the winters. A private memorial will be held. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
