Judith (Judy) Anna Pirkl, 88, of Woodbury, MN passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Judy was born in St. Paul, MN to Mildred and Paul Walters. She attended Johnson High School, where she met and kept lifelong friends. She graduated in 1955. Judy met Jack Pirkl in the late 1950s through friends while she was working for the City of St. Paul, and they were married for 67 years. During those years they had six children: Bob (Sylvia), Patty, Kathy (Tom), Tom (Selene), Ron (Rose) and Bill (Jen). Judy was a dedicated wife and mother. She was there for all her children’s school and scouting activities. Judy and Jack became world travelers, making their way to Europe, Israel, China, South America, Africa, New Zealand and many other places, especially Mexico. The Pirkl family is known for playing cribbage, and in Judy’s final years, with failing health, she could be heard loud and clear saying “Zippo!” to Jack when he had a zero hand.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jack; six children; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Paul Walters.
We want to thank the staff at Boulder Ponds Senior Living, Lake Elmo and Our Lady of Peace Hospice for the care she received in her last few months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. A Celebration of Life will be held at O’Halloran & Murphy Woodbury, 8700 Valley Creek Road, Woodbury, MN 55125, on Friday, April 3, 2026, with a visitation at 10 AM and service at 11 AM.
