Judith Leahy Grimes (née MacMahon), of Saint Paul, MN, passed away surrounded by her loving family at home on Friday, January 8th, 2021. Judy was kind, gentle, loyal, curious, a voracious reader and life-long learner who loved to laugh, and adored by her family and friends. Those who worked with her at The Moveable Feast, Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and St. Peter Claver School thought of her as a mentor and friend, and marveled at her work ethic. Anyone who dined at her tables on Macalester Street or Palace Avenue felt her love through the delicious food she prepared and the lively conversations she shared with them. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth (O’Connor) and William MacMahon; husbands, Patrick Leahy and Richard Grimes. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Durbin; her four daughters, Jennifer (Toby) Madden, Amy (Greg) Clark, Nora Leahy (Louise O’Hara) and Jessica (Charles) Ryan; her grandchildren, Christopher (Hansol Na) Madden, Alexander Madden, Ryan Madden, Nicholas Clark, Joseph Clark, Elise Ryan, Cate Ryan, Patrick Ryan, and Lisa Grimes. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 15th, 2021, 10:30 AM, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1938 Stanford Avenue St. Paul, MN. Masks and social distancing required. You may view a livestream of Judy’s mass at nativitystpaul.org. Burial will be at a future date. Judy’s family is forever grateful to her Fairview Hospice Team and to the myriad friends and relatives whose visits, calls, love and prayers supported her during her time in hospice.
