Joseph James DeSantis

Joseph “Joe” James DeSantis of Woodbury, MN passed away peacefully on his own terms on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. He was 80. Joe was born September 2, 1942, in Waltham, MA to the late Augustine and Genevieve (Stukonis) DeSantis. He grew up in Newton, MA. He received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at Northeastern University and an Electrical Engineering Certificate from Wentworth Institute of Technology.  With his education he was then employed for almost 28 years at Codex Corporation which became Motorola.  During his lifetime Joe enjoyed many interests.  He enjoyed anything car related especially Corvettes of which he owned three over his lifetime.  Other passions included model trains, movies, music and an insatiable appetite for chocolate chip cookies and chocolate chip ice cream. His greatest joy was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was happiest when he was with his family vacationing at Hampton Beach, NH.  Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marjorie (Wholey), daughter Michele (Gabriel) Weschcke, son Joseph (Lindsey) DeSantis, three beautiful granddaughters Sydney, Emily, and Avery Weschcke who he loved more than life, sisters-in-laws Jacqueline (Joseph) Cahill and Patrica (Alfredo) Wholey, brother-in-law William Wholey and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-laws Anne (Ralph) Guertin and Virginia (Philip) Steinkrauss, and mother-in-law Julia Wholey. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27 from 2 to 4pm at O’Halloran & Murphy of Woodbury, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4pm. Family and friends also are welcome to stay for refreshments after the service. A special thank you to St. Croix Hospice, Artis of Woodbury employees and all the family and friends who were a part of Joe’s journey.
