JOSEPH A. CASCALENDA 

Age 94 of St. Paul

Passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025.  Born on May 30,1930 to Joseph and Marie Cascalenda in Pittsburgh, PA.  Joe attended Monroe High School and graduated from St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN. On July 18, 1953, he married the love of his life, Gloria Schaefer, and they shared 71 years of marriage.  He had a 36 year career at Northern States Power Company (Xcel Energy).

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie; brother, Samuel; and great-grandson, Eli.  He is survived by his soulmate, Gloria; his sister, Angela Setter; and his children:  Pamela (Norbert) Biderman, James (Debra), Jill (Kevin) McShane, Thomas (Lori), Lisa (Brian) Saunders; his grandchildren:  Nicholas, Benjamin, Jacob, NJ, Christopher, Jay, Jessica, David, Kelly, Kristin, Joseph, Jono, Anne, Noelle, Anthony, Joshua, Zachary and 38 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held at a later date. Please check back for an update.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to St. John’s University, 2850 Abbey Plaza, Collegeville, MN 56321, or the charity of your choice.
