John Schwartzbauer, age 67, of Saint Paul, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with bladder cancer. He was preceded in death by his father George, mother Loretta, brother Jim and son-in-law Chris.
Born and raised in St. Paul, John loved growing up in the city. He enjoyed playing baseball against his childhood rivals, football, and was an avid wrestler, taking pride in being one of the “biggest” guys who thrived on pinning his opponents.
John’s family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his four daughters. John had an immense love for this world: a positive and energetic outlook that was truly inspiring. John’s passion for others found him serving in the Peace Corps for ten years. The depth and magnitude of the people he touched and inspired are immeasurable.
John was blessed with lifelong friendships from all over the world and was the most loving and devoted grandfather to his nine grandchildren.
Dearly loved father of his “girls,” Lisamarie, Bridgette (Dave), Danielle, Sabrina (Phillip); proud grandfather of Felicia, Ricky, John, Olivia, Lucas, Galena, Lydia, Liam, and Garen; beloved brother of Diane (Dave) Howard, Ruth (Jim) Wittek, George (Cindy), Kathy, and Joe (Kerry).
In place of flowers, the family requests donations to Our Lady of Peace. Visitation Thursday, August 26 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at O’Halloran & Murphy. The funeral service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, August 27, at 10:00 am, viewing from 9:00 – 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
