John passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, thanks to the wonderful care provided by Our Lady of Peace Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Regina O’Donnell, sister Mary Lou Ramackel and brother-in-law Louis Ramackel. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor; children Jay (Joy), Trish (Pete) Sydow, Tom (Heidi Fancher) and Mary (Charlene Hoff); grandchildren Rachel, Andy, Maggie, J.D., Jacob, Abigail, Sophie, Sam and Noah; great-grandchildren Amelia, Eleanor, Olivia, Greta, Samson, Edgar, Campbell, Adelaide, Waylon and Crew; nieces Mary Beth Zack and Jeanne (Jeff) Walling as well as many other relatives and friends.

John dutifully served in the U.S. Army including in Korea and Japan.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1900 Wellesley Ave., St. Paul, MN 55105. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
