Joey was born July 20, 1944 and welcomed to heaven on May 4, 2026 after a courageous fight against cancer. Raised in St. Paul, she graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and The College of St. Catherine’s. Joey dedicated her professional life to fostering curiosity and learning throughout her career as a librarian serving Dakota County.
Joey’s competitive spirit was a defining part of who she was- one that never faded with time. From tennis matches to bowling leagues to lively games, she played to win but, more importantly, to connect and enjoy life. Her sharp wit and sense of humor made her a delight to be around. She gave generously of her time as a volunteer and was a dedicated member of Nativity parish. Joey loved to read and found her greatest happiness in the company of her family, creating lasting memories together.
Joey will join husband, Einar; parents, Joseph and Margaret, siblings John and Judy in heaven. She was a role model for her children, Kristin Wallin (Kevin), Lisa Simplot (Tim), Tara McCallum (Todd), Erik Utvik, and Greta Jorgenson (Jason); grandchildren, Danielle & Nicole Wallin; Annika (Sal), Davis, Eliza, Claire, & Adelyn McCallum; Wesley & Rowan Jorgenson; siblings, Jean Smith (Jim), Jane Render (Tom), Jim Travers (Sandy), brother-in-law Pete Regnier, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.
