It is with great sadness that the family of Jerry Harvey announces his passing on November 22, 2025, at the age of 84 years, in St. Paul, after bravely battling cancer for more than a year.
Jerry G. Harvey was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Frank Harvey and Mary Evelyn Harvey on March 19, 1941.
He is preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Lila Louise Elser Harvey (d. 1979); Jerry and Lila married in 1963. He is also preceded in death by his brother, James Harvey.
Jerry is survived by his wife Cheryl. Jerry is survived by his children Debra Ward, Greg (Jennifer) Harvey and Tracy (David) Duncan. When Jerry married Cheryl in 1980, he became father to her five children: David (Carmen) Dean, Debra (Daniel) Johnson, Diane Schuberg, Deanna (Robert) Null and Denise (Judd) Hites. Jerry loved and adored twenty-four grandchildren, his nephews, nieces, great-grandchildren, and many more relatives and extended family.
Jerry earned his B.S. degree from Iowa State University in Electrical Engineering in 1963.
Jerry and Lila moved to Roseville, MN in 1965. Jerry started his career at Sperry Univac which became Unisys. He had a 35-year career as a Programmer and Manager at Unisys.
He then worked for Wells Fargo in Minneapolis and, after retiring, worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block starting in 1990. He became an Enrolled Agent during his time as a tax preparer. Jerry also enjoyed working as a ticket taker at the Minnesota State Fair for many years.
Jerry was a man of character, honor and principle. He showed kindness and humility while having a sense of humor and sharp wit. Jerry was a respected member of Centennial United Methodist Church.
Jerry started playing golf as a young boy and enjoyed playing well into adulthood. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and he was a skilled card player. Jerry loved music and shared that joy and appreciation with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching baseball and his favorite team, the Minnesota Twins.
Memorial services to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, at Centennial United Methodist Church, 1524 W. County Road C2, Roseville, MN 55113, with visitation beginning at 10am and service beginning at 11am.
Memorial donations may be made to Centennial United Methodist church for CUMC Youth Missions.
