Janet Sue Manthey, age 82, of Woodbury, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.
Janet grew up in St. Paul in a large and loving family with ten brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul.
Janet was married to her beloved husband, Tom Manthey, for 59 years, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this December. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. Janet devoted much of her life to caring for family and all those around her, and Tom followed in her footsteps by becoming Janet’s devoted caregiver in recent years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anastasia Barth; her sisters Nancy Aldorfer, Donna Sullivan, Darlene Metzger, and JoAnn Hondlik; and her brothers Bob Barth and Jim Barth.
She is survived by her husband Tom; her daughter Molly Manthey; her son Andy Manthey (Melissa); her son Luke Manthey (Heather); and her grandchildren Jaden, Olivia, and Lila. She is also survived by her sister Sally King, her sister Judy Benkufsky, her brother Gary Barth, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family was at the center of Janet’s life.
Janet had a deep appreciation for nature and animals and shared that love through her many years volunteering with the Rose and Lee Warner Nature Center, where she served as a trail guide and bird bander. She was also an avid gardener and golfer, finding joy in nurturing plants and spending time outdoors. A talented cook, she enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. She also worked as a substitute teacher in Woodbury.
Janet will be remembered for her deep devotion to her family, her kindness, humor, and strength.
