James (Jim) Francis Zingsheim passed away on August 26, 2025, at St John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN at the age of 60. Jim was a resident of Vadnais Heights, MN. Born October 27, 1964, in St Paul Minnesota, he was the loving son of John J Zingsheim and Nell I (Miller) Zingsheim. Jim grew up in North St Paul and was a graduate of North High School.
Our kindhearted sweet-souled "little" brother Jim, the youngest of seven, passed after an intense battle with diabetes complications. If you were kind to Jim he was your dedicated friend for life. Jim’s greatest passion was music. He thrived on it! He was a multi-instrumentalist. Mainly he was a Rockin' drummer but he could play some guitar (he composed songs on guitar). He learned to play a mean Boogie Woogie on the piano. He picked it up from his dad who he inherited the "music gene" from. Just like when his brother John’s Big Bang moment for guitar started by seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, Jims great inspiration came from first seeing and hearing Kiss. He knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Jim was a prolific collector of all kinds of media and music. He liked a very wide variety of music and focused his playing on Hard-Rock and Metal. Jim found acceptance when practicing at Tim Ellis's shop and finally he was very proud to find a niche at Kooler Sound with acceptance of his peers. He loved interacting with other drummers/musicians. He was a sentimental, funny, good humored guy. Music is magic and Jim loved it. He will be deeply missed.
Jim is preceded in death by John J Zingsheim (father), Nell I Zingsheim (mother), and Mary N Porto (sister). He is survived by sister Jean Dordek of Austin, TX and her husband Harvey Dordek, brother John Zingsheim of St Paul, MN, brother Bob Zingsheim of Ham Lake, MN and his wife Kathy Zingsheim, brother Tom Zingsheim of Chaska, MN and his wife Mimi Leminh, brother Mike Zingsheim of Centerville, MN, many nieces, nephews and grand nieces & grand nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at O’Halloran & Murphy Funeral & Cremation, www.ohalloranmurphy.com/roseville, 2245 North Hamline Ave, Roseville, MN, from 2pm to 5pm.
